Milkwood newsletters

Milkwood is a care home network operating in Wales and Hampshire. They had worked with my team and I at Creative Clique for some time making bi-monthly newsletters to inform family members about what’s going on at each home as well as giving residents something to read that covers what they’ve been doing and tells them upcoming events. They had asked us to update the style of their newsletters to make them more lively, I was put in charge of this project.

I decided that the cover should feature only one image which related to the first ‘feature story’ within the newsletter. A group news story space would consistently follow the feature story so it was always in a predictable place and could easily be found to find out what’s going on in the Milkwood group as a whole. Different stories were given differing background colours to help separate them from each other and give the pages a splash of colour. The photos for each story were also placed at seemingly random angles to give them more of the appearance of printed photos spread on a table along with the addition of graphics relating to the story content to further liven up the appearance of the pages.
